CPE is proud to become an official signatory to the United Nations-supported Principles for Responsible Investment (the "UN PRI") in August 2021, as an investment manager member. "Investing for a better world" is a core element of our mission statement and we are proud to be a pioneer of ESG in China's asset management industry.

We believe that ESG can better position the company for long-term growth. While some fund managers still view ESG as simply a risk mitigation framework, we believe it is more than that. ESG is the foundation for long-term value creation for our investors, portfolio companies, employees and the broader community.

ESG Position Statement

We formulated the following ESG position statement and established the macro direction and goals of our ESG management work under the leadership of our ESG committee.

Our vision is to be the most trustworthy world-class asset management company. To achieve this vision, excellent ESG management is one of the cornerstones. For CPE, not only is ESG the bottom line of its management, but also it is the core driving force to guarantee that its cause remains evergreen and continues to create greater value for investors and society. In light of this, we are willing to gear towards the most advanced ESG management concepts and standards worldwide and to establish an industry-leading ESG management system with our own characteristics.

We integrate ESG considerations into our overall life cycle of investment management. We allocate resources and establish a dedicated system for ESG work and devote to turning ESG into one of our core expertise. Through building of long-term partnerships, we bring advanced ESG concepts and professional management approaches to portfolio companies. We promote their green business philosophy of sustainable development and achieve the coordinated development of business and social benefits.

As our awareness and capability of ESG management continue to improve, we are concentrated more on business models that can directly create value both environmentally and socially. We will put more professional resources in seeking and supporting enterprises with these business models. Standing at the frontline of our industry, we resolve environmental and social problems with the power of business and achieve greater business values by creating a better environment and more meaningful social values.

We believe that ESG should be a shared value in asset management industry. We actively participate in learning and sharing ESG management knowledge and experience with our peers. We hope that, though these communications and cooperation, together we raise the overall ESG management level of the industry and promote sustainable development of the industry.

We incorporate ESG philosophy into our corporate culture. With values of openness, inclusivity and people-orientation, we care about the development of our employees. We respect different voices, provide multiple career development road maps, and help employees improving themselves through challenges. At the same time, we provide specialized ESG training, and proactively integrate ESG concepts in work and life.

We always keep in mind the responsibility of a corporate citizen. We explore to the maximum our professional and social resources within the scope of our own capabilities and continue to provide public-welfare supports in the fields of education and medical care. We encourage the joint participation of employees, portfolio companies and investors; actively promote multi-win of cooperation; attract more social resources into public-benefit undertakings; and fulfill the responsibility of a corporate citizen.
